Artist's Statement
Captured by the concept of Biomimicry, the idea of looking at the natural world as a universe of perfection, I translated this methodology to contextualize research data and use them to explain and present information to the public, yet preserving beauty and poetry of materials.
Therefore Surface Regeneration attempt to highlight and propose innovative alternatives to the decadence and decomposition of materials, traditionally adopted in the urban environment.
I Propose architectural solutions that are looking at replicating nature, or using leaving organisms to create surfaces that are responsive and informative, nevertheless decorative.
Nanotechnology applied with screen printing process is protecting the surface and allowing airbone pollutants to draw patterns, poetically used as sensory indicators to transmit information such as air quality.
Similarly the decomposition of wood, embossed into concrete, is creating textured surfaces that poetically change over time.
The overall exploration of these materials gradually led me to their in-depth manipulation. In the attempt to highlight their sensorial and aesthetics features I gave them new shapes and touch, treating them with different textile techniques.
Concrete folds, bends, flows like pencil on the wall, reaching soft and delicate appearence.
