Artist's Statement
In my previous works, I have used knitting and paper making to try to express a kind of nostalgia for the nature that we are losing, but in my solo show in November 2008, for the first time I used ink jet prints to bring out the contradictions of modern over-production and over-consumption in everyday life. I used cut-out snap photographs of daily life, because I felt that the best method to print the images showing normal daily life as it is. On the reverse of the print I stuck a mirrored sheet,
I made into the shape of a column thereby constructing a shape whereby the viewer also become involved. With the multiple mirrors, by creating images of motifs and people together, I wanted to bring out multiple layers showing the contradictions and uncertainty in modern life.
