Severija Inčirauaksitė-Kriaunevičienė
She uses discarded and overlooked objects – rusty tools, old car parts - and employs traditional embroidery techniques as a subversive commentary on popular understanding of Lithuanian cultural identity. By re-visiting conventional notions of kitsch through the placing in a new context, that of textiles, she is challenging the hierarchies of taste and categorisation.
