Artist's Statement
My conception starts from some insignificant daily affair. I am interested in ordinary objects that I use in everyday life. So I have collected some familiar articles (especially old ones), such as buttons on shirts or some tiny articles, for more than ten years and produce a form suitable for the exhibition place. I make the large quantities of disused articles come life again as my work. I present my ideas in a form that is as simple as possible, so that there are various points of view according to who enjoy it.
When I think about what I should express in my works, I require some inspiration for each elements of the textile, such as the materials, colors or patterns. Because I believe that Japanese traditional arts that produce those textiles have cultivated the essence of my aesthetic sense. Some feelings recur day after day, and after time I accumulate their will to be expressed within my work. Finally I never forget to add some humor to works. It is the key point of my style.
